Bonnie Rose Hough is the Principal Managing Attorney for the Judicial Council of California’s Center for Families, Children & the Courts, where she has been employed since 1997. The focus of her work is on helping courts meet the needs of litigants who cannot afford counsel. She staffs the Shriver Civil Counsel Implementation Committee and manages the evaluation of that project. Her wonderful staff coordinates the California Courts Self-Help website, which provides over 4,000 pages of legal and procedural information and referrals and has been translated into Spanish. They work on forms and document assembly programs to assist litigants to complete those forms. She oversees 5 grant programs providing nearly $40 million in funding for legal services and court-based self-help programs. Ms. Hough received a JD from Hastings College of the Law, an MPA from San Francisco State University, and a BA from the University of California at Santa Cruz. She is a fellow with Harvard Law School’s Bellow-Sacks program and is on the Executive Committee of the National Self-Represented Litigation Network.
